I'm speaking from a point of having recently seen my estranged mother for the first time in over 5 years, since before my daughter was born. Her mother's 90th birthday meant we were in the same place at the same time for the first time in years. She finally met my daughter. You know what helped? Focusing on love and remembering that nothing that has ever happened in the past is as important as what happens in every single new moment. You can do this - and I will pray that she follows thru - and that I get to read the "how surprisingly well it went" follow-up post soon. Hang in there - and thanks for sharing this!
