What’s Brainsieve to be built on?

You tell us! We’re using hosted Wordpress to sketch out the skeleton and start sharing ideas. How to build it? Anything goes. Ning, blogging software, some combo of CMSes, off-the-shelf, something hacked, roll-your own? Dunno yet.

Maybe brainsieve.com is some kind of “frame” with tabbed pages that display other sites/content from other sites/intact web pages/widgets. Maybe it’s a hacked blogging platform with a lot of strategic widgeting.

What are the tools/streams/content inputs that we want to tie together?

In broad terms, tools that deliver micro and macro content from the basic four food groups: text, video, audio and images

Text: blogs, articles, tweets, comments, replies, wikis..
Video: Seesmics, shorts, live shows, events, edited shows and shorts, vlogging…

Audio: Utterz, inbound & outbound “voice messages,” possibly audio podcasting…

Images: photos, graphics, dynamic data-based images…

Seeing as you just mentioned almost everything on the web, could you be a little more prosaic?

Sure thing. At least two of the “pages” are blogs, at least one other is a wiki. Twitter, Flickr, Utterz, Seesmic, Lijit, Google Reader shared items, Del.icio.us and surely other players to be named later can funnel into it.

There’s also lots of playground equipment for visitors to climb on, swing, play with, try out, talk about, etc. So, some kind of communications or messaging, tho probably not as fancy as a bulletin board. Stuff is easy to link, export, share, bookmark, mash up.

The secret sauce is some kind of favoriting/preference engine so that the audience is constantly voting content up and down. An internal Digg infrastructure, if you will. On whatever page, the best stuff consistently floats to the top. The boring sinks away into oblivion. Our duller efforts fade while glimmers and sparks remain easy to find. And the cream floats up and into a “Greatest Hits” feed, which features the best signal to noise ratio.

Why not just use Digg for that?

The point is not to get popular externally, the point is to parse and sort content by its quality and its resonance with readers. ICanHasCheeseburger does this somehow. Anyone know how?

Ya wit’ me so far?
